The Leighton Buzzard, Stanbridge and District Riding Club is one of the oldest riding clubs in the country. Originating in 1949 on June 9th,
It was agreed that the aims of The Club should be as follows:
1. To form an association in the Leighton Buzzard and Stanbridge District to improve facilities for the advancement of horsemanship and to encourage good sportsmanship, particularly amongst juveniles.
2. To provide, if practicable, annual gymkhanas, shows, hunter trials etc. To give members of the club privileges and facilities such as reduced entry fees etc. 3. To provide reasonable sport and entertainment amongst the members.
The first show was held at Stanbridge on Saturday August 20th 1949. The schedule included showing, affiliated B. J. jumping and a gymkhana.
All events took place in one ring. The Club has continued without a break since 1949. Shows, competitions and training are still being held at various venues in the area.
What Events do the club hold? The club holds a variety of different events throughout the year.
During the summer months Jumping and Showing shows are held.
Throughout the winter the club holds Dressage events and clinics.
Who are the people who run the club? The club is run by horse enthusiasts who voluntary give their free time to arrange all these events.
The club has a committee who meet regularly to discuss items regarding latest horse issues and the clubs events.
